How to Build a Routine for Post-Acne Dark Marks

Post-acne dark marks can remain visible long after a breakout has settled. A good routine should focus on tone support, barrier care and daily sunscreen instead of aggressive over-exfoliation.

Choose Tone-Focused Actives

Alpha arbutin, tranexamic acid, niacinamide and vitamin C derivatives are commonly used in routines targeting discoloration.

Use Exfoliation Carefully

AHA or BHA can support smoother texture, but daily use is not required for most routines. Planned use once or twice a week is often easier to maintain.

Do Not Skip Sunscreen

UV exposure can make dark marks look more persistent. Daily SPF is one of the most important steps in any discoloration routine.
