How to Plan an Evening Skincare Routine
The evening routine is the best time to remove sunscreen, makeup, sebum and daily buildup. It is also where actives such as retinol, exfoliating acids, peptides or barrier-support formulas are often placed.
Start With Cleansing
If sunscreen or makeup was used, a two-step cleanse can be helpful: an oil-based first step followed by a water-based cleanser.
Plan Active Nights
Retinol, exfoliating acids and strong tone-focused actives do not need to be layered on the same night. Alternating them across the week helps keep the routine more balanced.
Include Recovery Nights
Some evenings should focus on hydration and barrier support with ingredients such as ceramides, hyaluronic acid and calming care. Consistency matters more than using many actives at once.
